Do you worry about someone who lives alone? Even if a person is normally active and self-sufficient, they can suffer a fall or medical impairment that would leave them helpless unless someone else checks on them. A common practice is to initiate daily calls or texts to verify that all is well. Periodic check-ins can become boring, uncomfortable, and they can simply be forgotten due to busy schedules. What we need is an automatic mechanism to verify that a person is active and able to call for help if they need it. If they appear unusually inactive, however, send an alert that assistance may be needed.I’m Alright addresses this situation. Using the standard motion sensors included with a mobile phone, it monitors physical activity to detect if someone has become unusually inactive. If the person is going about their usual activities and periodically handling their phone, its an indication that "Im Alright" and the app remains silent. However, if no activity has been detected in a user specified amount of time, text alerts are sent to a list of contacts defined during program setup. The alert recipients can then take action to check and see if the person is alright.WHAT IT PROVIDES: + Inactivity monitoring and messaging which can be used for health alerts, fall alerts, and unusual absence alerts + Uses built-in Android motion sensors; nothing else to buy + Simple user setup; continuous unattended activity monitoring; automatic inactivity notifications + No ads; no information collection or sharing + Inactivity threshold set by the user in hours and minutes (HH:MM) + Contact phone numbers are entered through the user interface and stored only in the app itself. It does not share phone numbers or access the Contact app. + Text alerts can be sent to any mobile device. + GPS coordinate information provided by the phone is included in text alerts unless over-ridden by user choice. + Motion sensitivity control to filter out extraneous movement due to phone vibration, etc. + An on-demand 24 hour HISTORY report to help the user can visualize their activity profile and set the operating parameters accordingly. + An I’m Alright response button allows the user to send impromptu reassurance “I’m Alright” messages.HOW IT OPERATES: + After installation, the user enters settings to specify their inactivity time limit, phone numbers to send alerts to, and whether they want to include location information. + The program requests permissions needed to send alerts + After installation and setup completes, the user taps START MONITOR. + The inactivity monitor starts and runs continuously in the background. The user interface screen can be dismissed; the monitor keeps running. + The monitor updates the accumulated inactivity time every 60 seconds. Any significant motion detected by the phone resets the inactivity time to zero. + If the inactivity time reaches the preset limit, text messages with optional location information are sent to the numbers on the contact list. + The monitor will automatically restart after a phone shutdown and restart.
